A few good books - before summer ends!

Dear Friend -

The days may be getting shorter, but there's still time for summer reading (at least for us in the Northern Hemisphere!) I've got a stack of books teetering on my nightstand (okay, loaded onto my e-reader), so I thought it was only fair to share one last harvest of summer fun with you! So, without further delay, it's Virtual Cocktail time...
Ingredient One: The Way You Look Tonight -- a Return to Harmony Springs

Take one fireman. Add a virgin chef. Stir. Serve between heated pages.

Sound like a great recipe? If so, you have to check out The Way You Look Tonight!

We're heading back to Harmony Springs, a small town in the Shenandoah Valley. (All the Harmony Springs books stand alone, so don't worry if you haven't had a chance to visit this sweet little town before!) Here's what the latest book is all about:

A May-December romance fans flames in a small town…

At the ripe old age of twenty-six, Anne Barton is content to live with her mother in her cozy childhood home, surrounded by stuffed animals and girlish dreams. But the owner of the Orchard Diner has a secret: when she was twelve she caused a horrific fire that brutally scarred her best friend.

Forty-four-year-old firefighter Will O’Hara knows he should campaign for the job of Harmony Springs Fire Chief. Doing so, though, would force him to overcome his blinding fear of public speaking.

When a charity stunt pits Anne against Will in the small town’s Mayor for a Day election, both candidates are pushed far outside their comfort zones. Anne must confront the crush she’s had on Will since the fireman rescued her from her nightmare inferno. And Will battles his own burning attraction, knowing Anne is young enough to be his daughter. If they keep playing with fire, someone is sure to get burned.

Ingredient Three:  Summer Vacation Redux

Last weekend, I snuck out of town for a "getaway weekend", heading up to Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, the Brandywine River Museum, and a centennial exhibit of paintings by Andrew Wyeth (100 paintings to mark 100 years since his birth.)

The paintings were magical -- entire stories conveyed in a single frame, with painstaking tempera brushstrokes. The day after viewing the exhibit, I took a tour of Wyeth's studio. The former one-room schoolhouse was featured in many of his paintings -- I could actually see the hundreds of shades of white captured by Wyeth.  I wonder if my office reflects my stories the same way!

Ingredient Four: My Most Popular Facebook Post Ever

On Facebook a couple of weeks ago, I shared a meme posted by one of my readers. Within a couple of hours, it became my most popular Facebook post ever, with thousands of people sharing the image. I figured it would only be fair to share the meme with you!

(If you want to see other memes that make me laugh, make sure you follow me on Facebook!)
