Ask People to be WISE and Join!!
by Pat Hurton
Are you surprised to learn that many people in Central MA still do not know about WISE? Unfortunately it is true. The Outreach Committee members have been doing their best to market and reach out with brochures, flyers, business cards, speaking engagements, library displays, and so forth.
However, you are our greatest ambassadors. Please tell your neighbors, colleagues, friends, and family about WISE and the many benefits of becoming a WISE member. We have new marketing material in the WISE office you can use or contact me, Pat Hurton (pjhurton@yahoo.com), your Outreach Committee chair, for additional information.

The WISE Special Events Committee has begun planning for the academic year.
In a few days you will receive your invitation to the first event of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of WISE. A festive brunch at the Wachusett Country Club is scheduled for Sunday, October 15th. Members are encouraged to bring spouses, friends, family and potential WISE members. Joe Corn will provide the entertainment with a trip down memory lane with popular music videos. We hope you will join us on this happy occasion as we send WISE off for a very special year.
At a Brown Bag Luncheon on October 5th, guest speaker Asima Silva will talk to us about Growing up Muslim in Worcester. Guests are welcome. Coffee, tea and desserts are provided. No charge.
No Fall trip is planned this year. Instead, our 25th Anniversary Committee offers a wonderful lecture in November, and our Travel Committee also plans a program.
The Holiday Luncheon is planned for early December.
In 2018, a lecture by Jim Welu, Director Emeritus of Worcester Art Museum is planned. In the spring, we plan trip to the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, including the Seamen’s Bethel Chapel and more.
