This Labor Day weekend one of the nation's top ten Fine Art & Craft Festivals happens in Portland. Artists and buyers come from all over the country and Dennis will be there with his wonderful wares.

Art in the Pearl is a free event featuring over 100 art booths and fills the Northwest Portland Park blocks with art, theater, music, and hands-on activities for people of all ages.

You can find Dennis in Booth S9 on SW Park Ave. between Davis & Everett. 
10am-6pm September 2nd & 3rd
10am-5pm September 4th

Most of Dennis' recent work has concentrated on meticulously drawn images arising from his concern for our environment and its inhabitants.

Cups, yunomi (cups without handles), plates to hang on a wall and/or use for serving, vases, jars and a ceramic fire extinguisher will all be represented.  Come early for the best selection!

Leslie's show "Out of That, This" at RiverSea Gallery in Astoria will open the following weekend .

1160 Commercial Street in the heart of historic downtown Astoria, Oregon.

The title for this show was chosen to highlight Leslie's painting process where each new work starts with a random abstract "smoosh" of colors which suggest various images to her depending on the orientation of the canvas.  Leslie has found that developing these ideas by inserting a photo of her canvas into an iPad drawing app (ProCreate) is much more spontaneous than repainting a canvas again and again, especially when the canvas is 4 by 4 feet! With the ideas explored on the iPad Leslie begins to develop the painting on the canvas, photographing it for continued exploration in the drawing app. The video below is a capture of every photo and drawing stroke Leslie made in the app showing all her trials before arriving at the finished painting. Turn on the audio for a fun musical addition.

Although this video is the longest and most animated, Leslie made a process video for each of the eleven paintings in the show. You can see them all here - while viewing the paintings in the gallery or from your device at home.
