He Thanked Me Twice!!

I found people were either not home or not interested on this particular Tuesday in April. However,  I met a young man who opened the door and listened to my canvass. He liked the Enjoy It book, but not enough to purchase, believing they're (he and his wife) are doing O.K. 

He asked whether I belonged to a church? I then explained my connection with the Seventh-day Adventist church. He then asked, "Why do Seventh-day Adventists keep Saturday and not Sunday as the Sabbath?"  So, l canvassed him the Great Controversy. I wrote his name in it and he was very happy to receive such a valuable gift. He later came past me on his bicycle and again thanked me for "that book."

I was so happy, you'd think l had sold a $100 worth of books. God had a divine appointment for Adam (name changed) on this day. How great is our God’s perfect timing. 

Mary Was Found Dead that Morning . . .
 

I was visiting my sister in-law, Belinda in Bundaberg, and we were about half an hour from starting our book party with her friends when she received a phone call from my brother telling her that their good friend Mary, was found dead that morning by her daughter.

Belinda was in disbelief and realised why she couldn’t get Mary on the phone.  I prayed with her and comforted her. I really didn’t expect the party to go ahead, but the ladies from the group said, “No, it will take our minds off this sad event”. So, I prayed that God would lead me gently with this group and what to share with them. I was able to pray with the ladies and cried with them too as I also knew Mary. I then read from the book, Today, Tomorrow and You a poem that seemed to comfort them.

The ladies bought Spiritual Books: the Aussie Bible, Children’s Bible, and also recipe books and parenting books.

From that book party, Kerry, Belinda’s neighbour was so impressed with our vast range of books that she booked a party in June with her Baptist church friends and family.

I praised God that we can comfort people with our books and that God's timing is always perfect. I was there to comfort these people at such a sad time.

“You are Not Going to Attack Me, Are You?”

Jane is a lovely retired lady with a quick mind and a great sense of humour. After a barrage of questions on her door-step, I was invited into her immaculate home. 
 

As I was following her into her living area, Jane turned around, looked at me straight in the eye and said, “You are not going to attack me, are you?” I quickly replied, “I’m a happily married man with four children. I have been visiting homes for over 30 years and I certainly want to continue to do so!” Jane smiled. We sat down and I began to further explain my visit. 
 

While demonstrating our large Family Bible, Jane had questions, “Why is it that our schools are slowly removing religious instruction from the classroom? Why is that we are seeing less nativity scenes around Christmas?” Jane is not a church goer, but was raised to believe in God and was genuinely concerned about the slow erosion of Christianity in Australia. I responded and said that they are very good questions and I took out the book, The Great Controversy.

I began my presentation, “In my opinion this is the second greatest book ever written, the Bible being the first.” I continued on telling her a little about the volume. I handed it over to her and Jane began to flick through. After a few moments she looked around the room and said, “Where’s my hand bag?” She got up, found her bag and gave me a very generous donation for the book. Thank you Lord!

Before leaving I asked if I could pray for her and Jane accepted. Moved by the prayer she couldn’t thank me enough for coming.
