BUILDING PEACE THROUGH ACTION RESEARCH


Finding effective ways of building peace through action research is the subject of a new book titled: Building Peace via Action Research-African case studies. The book was launched at the Research Office Boardroom, Steve Biko campus last week.

The book is authored by Dr Sylvia Kaye and Professor Geoff Harris who are both based at the International Centre for Non-violence at the Durban University of Technology where they facilitate the postgraduate Peacebuilding Programme.

South Africa’s youngest dean, Professor Thabo Msibi shared his leadership experiences with students from the Durban University of Technology’s International Centre for Non-Violence (ICON) leadership programme, on Friday, 25 August 2017.

At just 34 years old, the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) school of Education new dean, Professor Thabo Msibi spoke of how in a society where ageism and the colour of your skin was used to define the type of leader you are or will be, shared how he had to rise above all the stereotypes.

TERRENCE BRAY SCOOPS THE DURBAN DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Award winning designer and former Durban University of Technology Fashion and Textiles lecturer, Terrence Bray added another feather in his cap when he was announced as the Durban Designer of the Year 2017 at the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) Recognition Awards evening, held at the Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) last weekend.

The fashion maestro graduated from the Fashion and Textile department in 1995 and in 1998 started his own clothing label ...
