September Newsletter- We Love Lentils!
 This month, we are celebrating lentils and all the goodness they offer. Did you know that lentils are a legume, not a bean. That means they are more digestible.They have the added benefit of being sulfur-free, which means they won't cause flatulence. From a nutrition standpoint, lentils are second in protein only to soybeans, making them an excellent vegetarian protein source. They are also high in iron, potassium, folate and fiber. In fact, there are 16g. of fiber in 1 cup of lentils! They have a mild diuretic nature and benefit the lungs and circulatory system. This makes them a great food for the transition seasons of fall and spring. They stimulate the adrenals and increase vitality in the kidneys. Scape Cafe Celebrates Lentils!
The Scape Cafe will be offering soups and entrees this month that feature lentils in a variety of forms and colors. Check out our Grab and Go Freezer for lentil burgers and soups, and look for our Facebook posts on Wednesdays and Fridays for our Featured Hot Meals. If you think you aren't a lentil fan, we encourage you to try our recipe for Harvest Lentil Vegetable Soup. It's amazing! Come to our Intro to Healthy Cooking Class in October and learn how to make this and other delicious recipes.
Green Goddess is vending the Half Ironman on September 10th. We will be set up in Ironman Village from Friday-Sunday. Tell your friends and family to stop by for breakfast or lunch!
We are also vending at the Ragnar Finish Line on Saturday the 23rd. If you are on a team, come with an appetite!
