What's Going On At NCTR?

This week, NCTR’s team gathered for a fall retreat focused on team building and strengthening collaboration across the organization.  Staff contributed to developing NCTR’s organizational vision for diversity, equity and inclusion, and to building cultural competencies. The learning improves NCTR’s consulting and informs how we work with and support partner residencies.

Hurricane Harvey Relief

Nearly 160 Texas school districts and 30 charter schools will remain closed in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, according to The New York Times. “A number of local districts, including Houston’s, the state’s largest and the seventh-largest district in the nation, said they hoped that Tuesday, Sept. 5, would be the first day of class. But local and state officials acknowledged that they could not predict exactly when buildings would be safe to re-enter and roads to schools would be passable.” Several philanthropic and nonprofit organizations and teachers unions have launched campaigns to help Texas and Louisiana schools in their recovery efforts.
