Messages from the Office

Symposium related inquires only please

With only a week left in the office before the Symposium, we will only be responding to Symposium related inquires until Monday 25 September. There is a huge amount of logistics and organising that happens in the week leading up to the Symposium to make it an awesome event. Thanks for your understanding.

MSC Alpine Tramping Safety Videos

MSC are currently embarking on a project to film a series of Alpine Tramping Safety videos. They are in the pre-production stage are are looking to talk to people who are knowledgeable about the areas and specific tracks listed below to help identify ‘what’s going wrong’. Their insights and research paint a good picture of where injuries and SAR are occurring but not necessarily why they are occurring.

The 6 hotspots are: the Central North Island (Tongariro region), Taranaki, Nelson Lakes National Park, Aoraki/ Mt Cook National Park, Southern Lakes and Fiordland. The seventh video will be a summary video briefly covering important aspects of alpine tramping relevant to all six alpine tramping hotspots such as weather, equipment and safe travel practices.

If you are interested in helping MSC out with this project please email Penny: admin@nzoia.org.nz
