A big thanks to our speakers and all the participants who attended live and those who joined remotely. It was a great day.

Material Rot and Decay

As we've learnt, every material tends to decay, rot, stop working and disappear with time. Websites and links are no different. Companies get acquired, URLs change, domains are not renewed and content gets removed.

Someday, YouTube will not be as ubiquitous as it is today, maybe it's shutdown, turned off, censored or will lose our videos. To hedge our bets, we've also uploaded them to the Internet Archive. As a non-profit attempting to create a new Digital Library, we have more confidence they're in it for the long run. You can watch, share, download and torrent all 30GB of the Material Conference 2017 videos.

If you are unfamiliar with the work of the Internet Archive, I suggest you listen to Brewster Kahle's 02011 Long Now Talk entitled: Universal Access to All Knowledge. Then donate to make sure they keep going!

Book Recommendations

Attendees were asked to share book recommendations as they bought ticket to the conference. Here's a sample of some of the top picks.
We're already hard at work on the next edition. Stay tuned for upcoming 2018 announcements.
