September 2017

Please see below Staff prayer, praise and events to bring before our Father .

Thank you again for doing the greater work of QYU!

As discussed in our last staff meeting our Theme for 2017-2018 School Year is for God to Break our Hearts for the Lost !  We were encouraged at a staff retreat where our Chaplain Bob Scrivens challenged us to ask God to do it.  Please see below his prayer and praise report, for God answering his prayer.

Thanks for leading the way Bob!

Bonnie Langstaff - Office Administrator

Bob Scrivens – Chaplain

A month or so ago I was asked by staff at the nursing home where Mary is to visit a dear resident who was in palliative care. The dear lady in her late eighties expressed her willingness to “go” but wanted to talk about whether or not everything was “in order”. After discussing the “the temporal things” with the assurance that things seemed to be “in order” I asked her if she had ever invited Jesus into her life to be her Saviour and Lord. She said she never had. After talking about what this meant I asked her if she would like to make the commitment she said “Yes!” so I led her in a simple prayer as she welcomed Jesus as her Saviour and Lord. She relaxed after that and then just a few days later she went to be with her Lord. What a privilege it is! I try very hard to only speak when I am asked. That way I do not overstep the privilege.

A personal prayer request is for energy and the restoration of my balance. I have been having difficulty standing and speaking in such ways as leading Bible Studies and preaching. This summer I have decided to take time to recharge my spiritual batteries so I might be able to continue on with the Bible Studies and also preaching.

Thank for praying, Bob.

Colin Leaver – Executive Director

1. Each year QYU hosts international volunteers from Germany to serve for 6 months to a year in our YFC ministry. They also partner with local churches here in the Quinte area. This year we have 3 enthusiastic young people coming and I am asking for you to pray the following for them:
- for a smooth transition to Canadian culture, with language, social and adjustment to host home (family) as typical tension points
- for their continued enthusiasm when serving in YFC and church duties
- for them to grow a deeper dependence in Jesus as they are stretched in their service
- for QYU to support them adequately by listening to them, coaching them and guiding them into deeper grace & truth.

     2. For the QYU satellite in Centre Hastings, who is hiring a new area director. This past spring we learned that Joel Martin was moving to a role with YFC National office, and that has left us with a role for local ministry. We have recieved 18 applicants so far but we need wisdom for the Holy Spirit to lead us to the right leader for the future ministry to youth in Madoc, Marmora, Tweed and the entire Centre Hastings community
