Message from Fr. Bryan Sabourin
Dear Lay Associates of Halifax,
Many of you probably know me already, both in my capacity as the new associate pastor of Holy Trinity, and as a former seminarian intern here (2011-12). But for those who don’t, it’s my pleasure to introduce myself. I’m Fr. Bryan Sabourin, and I’m looking forward to working with you, and ministering alongside of you.
I’m originally from Ottawa; the eldest of three boys. I attended St. Mary’s parish with my family, where the Companions of the Cross began, when I was in my late teens. It was the youth ministry, and
the Companions priests, that invited me to encounter the Risen Lord Jesus, and to experience His love for me. Fr. Mark Goring, the associate pastor at the time, challenged me to ask God what His purpose was for my life, from which flowed my vocation to the priesthood. Which in turn has now led me to live and minister in
Lower Sackville. Some of my hobbies include birding, playing guitar, and reading. But my passion is for parish renewal and forming leaders.
I’m excited for what God may want to do with the Lay Associates,
and I know that if we are committed to praying for His wisdom and guidance, He will be able to accomplish great things in and through us.
I just want to honour Fr. Jamie and Fr. Rob, who both served as your chaplain. And also Fr. Marc, who served as pastor of the Holy Trinity Pastoral Unit. These men served our community faithfully for many years, and have been asked and called to serve the Lord in other capacities at this time. Please keep them in your prayers. Pray for me also, as I begin my ministry here in Lower Sackville. And be assured that I am also praying for you.
Fr. Bryan
