After a summer break, eNews is back as a weekly update for GLC.

See below for info on meal packaging, welcoming Erik Thone, responding to Hurricane Harvey, yoga/mindfulness schedule, dinner church, a new video series sharing faith from a new perspective, and upcoming community events.

Worship on Sunday (10am) continues the Compassion Series (Mt 25:31-46). No forum or choir on 9/3. Thursday choir rehearsals begin 9/7 at 7pm.
Meal Packaging Update

With only $3734 remaining to raise, we now are focused on outreach to friends as well as area churches, businesses, and nonprofits for putting together teams of volunteers who will turn pallets of supplies into packages of food to serve 54,000 meals to hungry neighbors in Western Washington.

How can you help? Volunteer and/or recruit individuals (2.5 hour shifts) to package meals on Friday late afternoon or Saturday (September 29/30). Or, help identify organizations to distribute the food (church food banks, shelters, etc.). Free parking is available in the Aspira Retail garage on Saturday.

Work a shift and get a free t-shirt, or give $20 and take one home with the knowledge that you have provided a family of four breakfast and dinner for a week! Available in three colors, many sizes.
Erik Thone has arrived in Seattle! Come if you're able to say hello on Labor Day (Monday, September 4) from 3-5pm. Please note the day/time change! We'll be at Fremont Brewing (1050 N 34th St, Seattle), a kid- & dog-friendly beer hall with bench tables that serves up seasonal ales & free pretzels. Sodas also available. Bring other snacks if you'd like.
100% serves those in need!
Lutheran Disaster Response’s affiliate is actively present, collaborating with community leaders and officials to initiate the proper responses, particularly the long-term recovery efforts. Together, we have a strong history of working with disasters in the Gulf Coast area. Recovery efforts are expected to take years, and Lutheran Disaster Response will be there to accompany those affected through every phase of this disaster.  Gifts to Lutheran Disaster Response, designated for "Hurricane Response – United States" will be used entirely (100 percent) for this disaster until the response is complete. Together, we can help provide immediate and long-lasting support. Give today to support the needs in this response.
Yoga and Mindfulness Schedule

There is no yoga on Labor Day (September 4th). Come practice again on Monday, September 11 (5:15-6:30pm).

Mindfulness practice resumes on Thursday, September 7, 5:15-6pm.

Dinner Church Returns!

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 6 from 6-8 pm. We gather at 911 Stewart for a simple vegetarian meal, conversation, and communion. Because traffic is often brutal on weeknights, 6-6:30 pm will be gathering time: chatting, helping with final meal prep, coloring. The meal and service will begin at 6:30 pm.
