Start planning your Metadata source migration before the end of October 2017

At the end of October 2017, the AAF will be making a significant change by turning off the old Federation Metadata in the Test and Production Federation environments. This change will impact all Federation Identity Providers (IdP) and Service Providers (SP) that rely on this metadata.

It is recommended that all IdP and SP start planning their migration before the end of October 2017.

Please note: This change does not affect Rapid Connect Services.

Migration Guides:
The AAF has developed a number of simple guides with migration steps that you need to follow. These guides provide the steps to ensure your IdP and SP continue to function after the old federation metadata is turned off. If you have any issues or questions about the upgrade, please contact support@aaf.edu.au or visit Metadata.

Have you upgraded your IdP to v3?

If you haven't upgraded your IdP from v2 to v3, we recommend that you do so as soon as possible. By doing so you will remove the risk of running an unsupported version.

If you would like to discuss your Shibboleth IdP v3 upgrade, contact AAF Support .

The new release of the IdP v3 Installer

The AAF has recently released a new version of the IdP installer v3.3.1 1.3.1+idp-3.3.1-eudGAIN.
The new installer provides a range of additional features, including the latest version of Shibboleth IdP 3.3.1 and version 9.4.2 of Jetty.

eduGAIN - One step closer to connecting Australia's researchers globally

The Australian Access Federation (AAF) has recently completed a project funded by RDS (Research Data Services) that paves the way for Australian researchers to collaborate with international partners.

The AAF is now connected to eduGAIN (Education Global Authentication Infrastructure) bringing Australian researchers one step closer to effortless international collaboration.

eduGAIN enables connections to more than 40 international identity federations and over 160 research services from organisations such as CERN and LIGO.

eduGAIN will enable researchers, educators and students to collaborate with their colleagues using secure applications, tools and datasets in other countries.

If international connectivity would be valuable for your organisation or service, download the information pack or contact support@aaf.edu.au

Reminder: ORCID API v2.0 upgrade

It has been five months since ORCID released their new API v2.0 in preparation for API v1.2 being deprecated at the end of 2017. A number of the Australian ORCID Consortium members have already upgraded to the latest version. However if you haven't already done so, it is recommended that your organisation upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or require more information about API v2.0 please visit the ORCID Australia Community forum page. If you’re not part of the online forum, sign up today.
