Vossius Interest Groups

The Vossius Center now hosts three interest groups: Amsterdam Seminar Global Intellectual History, Amsterdam Philosophy Encounters Science & Society (APES) and Vossius Circle for the History of Linguistics. In addition to the general Vossius Seminar, the interest groups organize their own meetings.

Omar W. Nasim joins the Vossius Center in August for one month as a Research Fellow with his project Observing by Light: Photographing the Heavens, 1850-1920. Read more

Floris Solleveld joins the Vossius Center in September for three months as a Research Fellow with his project Gathering Language: towards a history of language materials, reproductions, and overviews. Read more

Vossius Research Fellow James McElvenny

James McElvenny joins the Vossius Center in September for one month as a Research Fellow with his project about the German sinologist and linguist Georg von der Gabelentz (1840–1893). Read more

Vossius member Lukas Verburgt received a VENI grant for his project "A new theory of revolutionary scientific change". Read more

Vacancies in History and Philosophy of Logic and Mathematics

The ILLC has three vacancies for Arianna Betti’s group Concepts in Motion within e-Ideas (2017-2022), a project funded by a prestigious personal grant (VICI scheme) by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and directed by Arianna Betti (Principal Investigator). Pieter van Foreest grant 2017

The Pieter van Foreest grant 2017 is open for application, deadline 10 September. This academic grant is explicitly for young talented researchers in the field of medical humanities: history, ethics, philosophy, anthropology and public communication of medical studies, public health and health care.
