Learn a simple knitting pattern and watch a spinning demonstration as fleece is spun into wool.

Join our Dales Volunteers on this 2 mile guided walk exploring of Gayle and Hawes. Free - donations welcome.

A Thousand Years in the Pleasure Ground

A talk by Eric Matthews about the recent work at Hornby Castle. Part of the Friends of the Museum annual lecture programme. Free - donations welcome.

An Illustrated talk by author David Joy on the history of lead mining in the Yorkshire Dales.

History of Cheese Walk


Sunday 24 & Wednesday 27 September

Join our Dales volunteers on this guided walk learning about the history of milking in the Yorkshire Dales, meeting local farmers and visiting the museum starting at the Creamery in Hawes. Booking advised. Adult £5, Child Free.
 

Making & Marketing Cheese in the Victorian Kitchen

Join our Friends of the Museum in the Dales Kitchen as they tell us about making and marketing cheese in Victorian times.
 

Dairying - Taste & Make


Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 September

13:30 - 16:30
Drop in, chat and taste local cheese, try your hand at making real butter and discover delicious Yorkshire Dales oat cakes and the historical stories these everyday ingredients tell.
