BACK TO SCHOOL "TEA & TISSUES"

ACAP opened its doors for the new school year on Monday, Aug. 28.  For some children, coming back and getting started was easy.  But for some other children, and parents, it was a new (and emotional) experience.  We set up "Tears & Tissues" in our Events Center (thanks Kylee for the wonderful idea) and were able to greet our preschool families and serve as hosts - sharing love, tissues, refreshments, and words of comfort and encouragement.  Our sanctuary also was available for those needing a few moments to themselves.  We are blessed to be a blessing!

This Sunday's “NOISY OFFERING”
will go to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.  If you or your work associates would like to contribute more through the UMC relief agencies (where 100% of funds donated go the relief — O% to administrative costs),  please donate by mail to:
Advance GCFA
P.O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-9068.
Please note in the memo line: Advance 901670

GEMS!
October sounds like a good time for another GEMS! (Greet, Eat, Meet — Sweet!)  Dinner Party.  If you can host a group in your home or in BUMC’s Events Center, please let Anita know.
Other dates are welcome too, if that suits better.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW)
will meet next Sunday, Sept. 10 at 12:15pm in the Events Center (bring your own lunch).  Janet Dektor will present “Pledge to Mission Service.”   Those who attend, please consider prayerfully what pledge you will make for 2018.  We hope to see you there!

We are a church of small groups (for discipleship and service in the community) with more groups forming across the year.  Talk with Anita to help you start a new group or find an existing one that works for you.

MOVIES AND MORE—SEPTEMBER EVENTS
Anita is out of town the week preceding our Movies and More weekend, so please
sign up by THIS SUNDAY, SEPT. 3 if you are interested in going to any of these three events.  This will enable us to gather and enjoy the events together:

Friday, Sept. 15, 6:30pm
Free Children’s Crafts & Movie @ dusk in Pack Square Park:  Rogue One:  A Star Wars Story.

Saturday, Sept. 16, 9:00am
Peggy Hustad, long time colleague of Anita and guest at our last GEMS!, has a movie being shown during the film festival at ABTech:  “Send My Mail to Nashville.”  Make plans to go now and we will share the other details when they are available!

Sunday, Sept. 17, 2pm
After the church council meeting, we have a family outing to see a re-release of E.T. at 2pm, Carolina Cinemark.  Plan to share this classic with your family or enjoy it yourself! To ensure we can see the movie, advanced ticket sales are recommended.

For more information about our Small Groups and events, contact Anita Sayles: (828)216-6591, ageasayles@gmail.com, or click here to see the groups currently being offered.

CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST?
During our luncheon to welcome back Pastor Sonny & Sharon last Sunday, our kiddos found some costumes and had an "impromptu Christmas play practice".  Everyone had a great time.  Can't wait until Christmas!

We are here to pray for you!

OUTREACH TEAM  is responsible for "Fun & Fellowship" this Sunday in the Events Center.  Thank you for all you do to make our Sunday mornings more fun!
