Keilor Cemetery extension opened

Keilor Cemetery extension was officially opened this week at a special event featuring speeches, multilingual poetry readings and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

GMCT welcomed the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, trust members, councillors, religious leaders, volunteers and community members to mark the occasion at the new section of the cemetery.

Horticulture with purpose

GMCT’s team of hard-working horticultural experts keep our 19 cemeteries looking beautiful year-round. Their knowledge and insight was recently shared with 17 members of Encouraging Women in Horticulture Australia, who visited Fawkner Memorial Park for a tour led by outdoor senior supervisor Helen Linehan.

Following the tour, Helen reflected on what makes her career in cemeteries challenging and uniquely uplifting, and how GMCT’s horticulture team works with the community to create meaningful memorial spaces.

GMCT CEO one of the Top 50 Victorian Public Sector Women
 
Jacqui Weatherill was recently recognised by human resources consulting firm Davidson for her inspirational leadership in the Victorian public sector.
 
Jacqui was nominated for the award by GMCT staff for the contribution she has made since she commenced as CEO in 2012.
GMCT director operations elected president of CCAV
 
David has a background of 30 years in local government, 12 years as a volunteer trust member of Box Hill Cemetery Trust and 2.5 years as GMCT director operations.
 
“I would like to thank GMCT for their support in allowing myself to take on this important role for the broader cemetery sector,” David said.
