For our older children, welcome back from the summer holidays!  For our new starters, welcome to the Pre-School, we look forward to meeting all of you soon.  We hope you all had a fantastic Summer and are now ready and raring to go for a year full of fun!
News
New Scooter Park - We are really proud to have a bespoke scooter park designed and created for us, thank you Stuart . It is situated next to the bin store, please can you go with your child, if they bring their scooter to pre-school, to the new scooter park and show them how to "park up". We have made this so we can keep the area in front of the gate clear of obstructions as it is a fire exit.
We've been spending!! - Over the summer we have spent over £10,000 on new equipment for the children to play with and to enable them to learn new skills.  This is thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts over the past two years - thank you to all the people involved!  To name just a few of the new additions, we have a new touchscreen computer, Cubetto (a friendly robot to help teach logic and programming from a young age),  children sofas, table and chairs, wooden role play caravan, outside library cosy area, new home corner, construction sets, buggys, balance bikes....the list could go on!  Once it has all been delivered and set up, if you would like to pop in and see anything in action please let Pip know, otherwise we will hold stay and play sessions in January where you will get a chance to see everything then.

Staff Update - We said a fond farewell to Donna at the end of term, we wish her well.

Susan and Pip graduated on Thursday 7th September after completing their BA Honour degrees.

We are currently recruiting for a pre-school assistant, so if you know of anyone locally that likes working with children and could spare a few hours please send them in our direction.

Birthdays & Oral Health - Following a very inspirational workshop on Oral Health held at pre-school for the staff during their inset day last Tuesday we have made the decision to change how we celebrate birthdays. Instead of parents supplying cakes or sweets the staff will now make popcorn with the birthday child to share with the group.

Our decision on this not only relates to minimising the amount of sugar given to children between meals to protect their teeth and prevent tooth decay but it also suitable for everyone to eat. It is recommended foods high in sugar are best eaten with a meal so the teeth can have time between meals to recover previously when we have handed out sweets it has been outside of a meal time and not the best for their little teeth to stay healthy.

There will be further information available on our website very soon about oral health so you can learn more about how we can all be making better choices which will benefit us all in the long term.

Requests to Parents
Phone Calls - We really appreciate the telephone calls to inform us if your child is not attending pre-school that particular day and other important information.  Could we ask that you do not call during the times when children are arriving and/or leaving as we are not always able to answer the phone.  Please ring either side of 8:45 - 9:00 / 15:05 - 15:20

Clothing Labels - With your child's winter wardrobe soon coming out, please can you remember to name all your child's clothing.  This can be with a name label or with a pen on the clothes' label.

Events & Dates for Your Diary
