From the Director's Corner
Our Summer Reading Program has now come to an end. But, that does not end our programming at all. Please note the upcoming ones for adults and children in September, some in the daytime:
When Amelia Came to Michigan about Amelia Earhart’s 25 visits to Michigan to promote aviation, especially for women. This will be September 7 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM;
An introductory and Q&A evening on September 14 at 6:30 PM for a 16 week group study on Effective Communication. Principles discussed can be used in personal and business relationships. We are very pleased with the early responses to this new program;
Joseph Sadony and the Exceptional Mind will be on Friday September 15 from 11 AM until noon. Attendees are welcome to bring a sack lunch as well. Richard Howlin, PhD in psychology will discuss Sadony and his unique thinking skills.
Baby Time, Play and Learn, and Family Nights also resume in September. Join us for our next round of programs.
We also finished a successful Red Hot book sale. Thank you to all our volunteers, workers, donors and shoppers. We had a wonderful selection of books and purchasers were happy to have found just the books they wanted. We also introduced the use of purchasing with a credit card. We have the equipment now and staff are trained on how to use it. Fines and fees can also be paid with credit cards as well.
We are now accepting donations for our next sale (in late February or early March). Please remember we accept clean, gently used books (not wet or moldy). Also try to limit the number of boxes brought in at one time. Help with unloading may be limited. If you have a question about a donation, please call the library before bringing them in.
The Friends of the Library will have their next meeting on October 17 at 6:00 PM. If you have a desire to help the library, please plan to attend.
