 The Women Lawyers Association of NSW invites you to join us for the launch of 
our 2017 Law Firm Comparison Data Report, and an important research project investigating the progression of women in the legal profession in NSW conducted by the University of Wollongong, Advancement of Women in Law Firms. The Honourable Acting Justice Jane Mathews AO will launch the studies, and our panel will discuss the key themes.

PANEL GUEST SPEAKERS
Professor Nan Seuffert is the Director of the Legal Intersections Research Centre at the School of Law at the University of Wollongong. Prior to academia, Nan practiced law in Boston at Foley, Hoag and Eliot. Nan teaches and researches in law, society and culture with a focus on gender and sexuality.  With Dr Trish Mundy, she is currently undertaking an evaluation of the YWCA Domestic Violence Intervention Service in Nowra, funded by a National Australia Bank Community Impact Grant.  Her work is recognised internationally; for example, her book, titled Jurisprudence of National Identity, provided the theme for the US Association for the Study of Law, Culture and the Humanities Conference. In 2016 she visited at the Centre for the Study of Law and Society at the University of California at Berkeley.
 
Dr Trish Mundy is Senior Lecturer and Discipline Leader in the School of Law at the University of Wollongong. Prior to academia, Trish practised for over 10 years within the community legal sector. One of her principal research interests is issues of gender and advancement of women within the legal profession. Current research projects include an evaluation of the YWCA Domestic Violence Intervention Service in Nowra (with Professor Nan Seuffert) as well as a qualitative research project investigating lawyers’ transition to legal practice in rural, regional and remote communities in Australia.
 
Louise Mallon is an in-house counsel and senior investment manager at Augusta Ventures (Australia), a litigation funder. Prior to joining Augusta Louise was a member of Ashurst's Sydney Disputes Team for 10 years. Louise is a member of the WLANSW's Workplace Relations sub-committee and has contributed to the Law Firm Comparison Data project for the last 3 years.
