Get 'Cork Walking' with Cork Walking Week 2017

Cork Walking Week will take place from Saturday 23rd September - Sunday October 1st 2017. Coordinated by Cork Sports Partnership with the support of local walking groups, communities and organisations this week is also coinciding with The European Week of Sport 2017 and seeks to promote sport and physical activity across Europe.

With over 30 walks, 9 workshops and 3 Leader Trainings there are events to suit all abilities during Cork Walking Week 2017.

Walking Events

Walking Workshops

Aside from the extensive list of walks scheduled to take place throughout the week a number of workshops  and programmes will also take place showcasing other walking activities. fitWALK, Get into Walking, Walking Football/Basketball, A Men's Shed Walking Workshop and Mindfulness Walking  are all scheduled to take place during the week. Online registration is now open to sign up to all of these. 

A 4 week inclusive walking/running programme is commencing Friday 22nd of September in 3 locations across Cork  for participants & staff from disability services. This programme is currently taking registrations.

A fitWALK gathering with a local walking enthusiast and special guest will take place in Nemo Rangers GAA Club on Sunday October 1st between 3pm & 5pm. Open to all ages and abilities this session will give participants a taster of all things fitness walking, including Nordic Walking.

fitWALK Workshops

Walk Leader Training

For anyone looking to develop their skills further and perhaps become a Walking Leader a number of trainings will take place over Cork Walking Week 2017. The Irish Heart Foundation will be running a Level 1 and Level 2 Walking Leader Training and a Mountain Skills 1 Course facilitated by Mountaineering Ireland will also take place.
