With a good journal, you can quickly capture everything God is doing through your mission trip experience in less than ten minutes a day.

The Mission Journal

David Iskander led teams to Asia to help orphans in one of the most impoverished countries in the region: Myanmar. Again and again he instructed his teams to journal.

Writing lets us clarify our thinking. Writing fosters our ability to explain and refine our ideas to others and ourselves. Writing allows us to understand our lives.

And mission trips are one of the most spiritual transformative experiences we could have.

“God is going to do amazing things and release you from things that keep you from his best in your life. If you have been or encountered someone who has gone on a trip like this, you understand what I’m talking about.”

The catch, though, is that even after all those amazing things, we somehow slowly revert back to life as usual.

“I couldn’t keep up...
100 stories to capture with
only ten minutes of energy.”

David realized that even for someone like himself, journaling everything God is doing on the mission field is difficult. “At the end of any given day in country, I remember 100 stories to capture with only 10 minutes of energy. Sadly, I close my journal and nothing gets documented.”

And if you aren’t an avid writer, a blank journal is, for many, quite daunting. That’s why David created The Mission Journal.

This 168-page booklet is set up to allow up to six months of journaling, with sections for recording goals, fears, miracles, and more. Use it before, during, and after your trip.

Mission Trip Devotions

Team leaders, need material to set the tone for your team and encourage spiritual growth?

Deeper Roots Publications publishes a number of great devotionals designed for use before, during, and after mission trips. These are created to focus on things people commonly experience while on a mission trip.

STEM International also carries resources from a number of sources, including several workbooks that weave together instruction, Bible study, and journaling. Two we recommend:

Before You Pack Your Bag, Prepare Your Heart: Short-Term Mission Preparation Guide by Cindy Judge (the best-selling book of its type)

Through The Eyes of Christ by Donna Thomas
