A message from Louise PrynneLouise Prynne

From 23rd September those of us living and working in Bath will have every excuse to stay awhile after work or to invite friends over as the Great Bath Feast kicks off for 12 days of foodie delights.

Throughout the period 27 venues in Bath will be offering a “Tenner Treat” so why not make it an excuse to eat our every night with friends! If you haven’t ventured into the new Bath City Apex Hotel then a hearty Sunday Roast could be just the reason to book a table on Sunday 24th September followed by afternoon tea at the Royal Crescent Hotel.

If you would like to learn more about wine, then why not book a ticket for a wine and cheese tasting with Fiona Beckett at Bath Rugby Club on 28th September? Visitbath and the BID have partnered with The PIG Guide to deliver this years Great Bath Feast programme so tell our customers, colleagues and friends to make the most of the wonderful and varied offer in the city’s participating venues.

Hope to see you at one of the events.

NEWS

Country Living Magazine to come to Bath

Exciting news for the city this week as Country Living reveal their plans for a city festival during May 2018.  The Festival will bring to life Country Living’s unique blend of country-style interiors, gardens, designers, practical advice, fashion and rural inspiration. At its heart will be a celebration of small rural businesses, talented crafts people, artisans and designers.

Bath will become a hub of creativity and rural inspiration with residents and visitors enjoying curated shopping, pop-up workshops, business events, supper clubs, celebrity talks, music, entertainment and an abundance of children’s activities spread throughout the streets and parks of the city. Producers, makers and designers from the West Country and beyond will be showcased in artisan markets, hands-on workshops and shopping events.

The BID is delighted to be partnering Country Living for this event, and is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that businesses in the city have every every opportunity to get involved. If any BID business is interested in retailer opportunities, please contact Allison Herbert at the BID who has further details.

Bath Soup 12th October 2017 6pm - 8pm

Following the very successful two Bath Soup Project evenings the Soup Project is holding a third event which will be held on on Thursday 12th October 2017 from 6 - 8 pm in St Mary’s Catholic Church (Meeting Room), Julian Road, Bath, BA1 2SF

What is the Bath Soup Project?

The ‘Soup Movement’ began in Detroit in 2010, an innovative crowd-funding project designed to help the city get back on its feet. In the last five years the project has raised more than $100,000 (£75,000) and has supported the success of many not-for-profits, local businesses and community organisations.

The Volunteer Centre. Bath and beyond, Bath College and partners  are coming together to host the third  Bath Soup Event at Bath Foodcycle.

How it works

* Everyone pays £5 (plus 90p  ticket commission for Eventbrite)  to watch five people pitch an idea - Dragons’ Den style, to improve their local community.

* Once the ideas have been pitched, everyone gets a bowl of soup to eat, plus a chance to chat and mull over the pitch they want to vote for. When the votes have been counted, the project with the most votes receives all the cash raised on the night to start their project.

* The event aims to bring together people who share a desire for a better community.  Previous projects which have pitched have all gained support in one way or another;it's not just about winning the cash on the evening.  Previous projects have included Southside Young Advocates, Bath Foodcycle, 3CafeKitchen, Vegmead, Keynsham Kindness etc.

If you would like to attend either to support or pitch an idea, please book a ticket here

Take up the challenge - 20 miles walk for charity

Why not take part in the sponsored Circuit of Bath walk in aid of Julian House, the charity which works with some of the most vulnerable people – including the homeless. The walk, which takes in picturesque countryside around Bath, is on Sunday 24th September. Participants can challenge themselves to walk the full 20 miles, or a shorter distance. There are five checkpoints along the route so you can start and finish where it suits you. Our team of volunteers and a regular shuttle bus make the experience much easier. Dogs on leads and children are very welcome. For further details or an entry form contact Cathy Adcock on 01225 354656, or send an email
