Aurum Jewellery has the pleasure to invite you to an intimate concert with the Congolese troubadour John Mutombo. Come by for a glass and some great music at our workshop & gallery at Dronningensgade 23, Christianshavn, September 15th at 16:00.
John Mutombo is one of Congo's finest backing guitarists. He has toured the world and recorded with numerous Congolese and Kenyan artists.
Since 2010 he formed part of the band for the Kenyan Benga Beat Star, Makadem.
Mutombo courently performs and has recorded a 5 star live album 'Sekou Kouyate Live at Afrikafestival Hertme 2015', performing for the Guinean Kora Virtuoso.
Mutombo performed a legendary concert with Carl Winther, Ivan Mazuze, Jivin Cameron & Niclas Campagnol for the Mozambican singer Mingas, for the future Danish Queen, Crown Princess Mary and the former Minister of Development, Christian Friis Bach, at the UN building, a special concert organized by One World for The Foreign Ministry of Denmark.
John Mutombo is soon releasing his first solo album, with beautiful songs of love and hope through despair.
Mutombo is a refugee with a hard story, but he has managed to transmit a contagious positive spirit through
out his life. He has helped many other people in trouble. All the bands love to have him on board as an amazing musician with an ever humble approach to his skill.
Mutombo’s new compositions are warm and elegant.
His complex guitar playing, is based on Congolese Rumba rhythms, with caching melodies full of variation.
Mutombo is singing his universal texts in a mix of Lingala, Tchiluva, Swahili, English and French.
