Story Time

As the missionaries stepped off the helicopter to the staring eyes and excited chatter of the tribal people, they thought to themselves, this task is too big. How are we ever going to learn their language, create an alphabet, teach them to read and write in their own language, develop lessons and teach them (in their heart language) through the Bible chronologically, disciple new believers, help establish a tribal church that is run by them, help them reach maturity where they are reaching out missionally to their neighbors, then slowly pulling out so the church can stand on its own...?  Where do we even begin?

The main story

What you just read is the church planting process that we are currently being trained for. This thought: "the task is too big" goes through our heads probably once a day. But that is right where God wants us- to be desperately dependent on HIS strength. THANK YOU for your partnership in our ministry training. We are learning foundational things that we will need on the field!
Financial Update:
We are still looking for people who would be interested in supporting us financially and prayerfully this year! We still need to raise $11,000 to meet our $40,000/year goal. Please click here if you would like to join our team, and here if you'd like to know more about our ministry!
This semester has been one of our favorites so far! There are just so many practical, helpful things we have learned to make us better missionaries on the field. These are the classes we have taken so far:
  • Suffering
  • Pre-Evangelism
  • Romans 12-15
  • Culture and Language Acquisition Practicum

CLA Practicum (Dobu)

This class is the first hands on experience we have had in practicing learning language and culture. We were able to do this in real life when we were in Papua New Guinea 2 years ago, but it has been so great to get an in-depth refresher on the important skills needed to learn an unwritten language and an unknown culture.

Upcoming BIG Prayer Request:

At the end of this week, our campus hosts an event called Field Fair. Representatives from most of the fields Ethnos 360 works in come to speak about their fields. We have not yet made an official decision on which field we will work in long term, but hope to make a decision after this Field Fair! PLEASE PRAY for God's wisdom and guidance as we want Him to lead us where He knows is best for us to work for our careers. Thank you so much!

Life Updates:

Since being back in Missouri, Gideon seems to be growing and changing SO FAST! From walking, to saying some words, to his first birthday (WHAT?!) we have been thoroughly enjoying our active, loving, funny little boy!
