Communication Etiquette for the RAN Student Interns on August 8, 2017
Communication can be defined as the process of encoding a message and sending it to another individual or group of people using a specific medium. It is important to note that communication is increasingly becoming a key element for high level performance in nearly all work places and environments.
Similar to the other routine training offered to student interns at Makerere UniversitySchool of Public Health ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), this session was also designed to further shape the interns into better employees in their future but also nurture them into better communicators moving forward. The training was conducted by Ms. Harriet Adong, the RAN Communications Manager and Ms. Loyce Twongirwe, the Eastern Africa Resilience Innovation Lab administrative Assistant. The aim was mainly to equip the interns with the knowledge, skills and professional code of communication via the telephone, email, instant messaging and Skype among others.

Matibabu Innovators working to launch the masticope product
On Thursday August, 2017, the RAN team joined the Matibabu innovator team in an engagement with the team from Villgro Kenya to articulate a scaling plan for Matibabu focusing mainly on; Clinical trials (ethics and financial concerns), Business modeling (customer segmentation) and Product Launch. The team also came up with new milestones that either teams have to work on so as to fast track the product launch of the masticope. These milestones were then aligned with the budget breakdown for the USD 50000 Villgro Kenya Investment into the Matibabu Innovation Project. Looking forward to realizing the Matibabu-noninvasive malaria diagnosis toolkit launched not only in the Ugandan market but also internationally.
