Exciting times...

Dear Friends,

It's been a summer of great progress and we can't help but feel it's all clicking into place nicely.

Our 20-point plan of yard improvements is well underway and we're sure you'll like what you see when you come to visit. More details to follow below.

This time last year we had around 30 horses on the yard, we're now up to nearly 50, and the average age has dropped from 6 to 5. Whilst we say goodbye to some old friends - not least Any Currency, we also can't help but feel optimistic with so many 2,3 and 4 year-olds showing plenty of promise in their early conditioning and schooling.

As always, it can't be done without our brilliant owners, and there are some fantastic ownership opportunities at the moment. With plenty of options to suit all budgets, ownership at Condicote has never been easier or more affordable. Have a look below to see details of some of the exciting new horses for sale, in partnerships or shares.

As ever, give us a call if you'd like to discuss any aspect of ownership or arrange a visit to view the new arrivals.

In the loop

Our new double width all-weather gallop loop has now been completed, installed by our sponsor Leisure Ride Group. It's an extremely valuable addition to yard facilities, and part of our 20-point plan of improvements.

The loop is perfect for steady work, building up strength and stamina. The synthetic fibre surface is extremely weather and frost resistant, so that unlike some other yards, we don't lose a single mornings training to the UK climate.

The double width means horses can school safely in both directions, and also the loop can have hurdles in place which is extremely valuable in helping Martin and the team produce horses that jump accurately.

Unnamed Gelding by Papal Bull

Martin says:
"He's only a 4yo but a big and very strong individual with bags of scope. Has come through pre-training well and should be out early in the autumn. I’m hoping he can win a bumper and then go straight on to novice hurdling. He is a very good jumper. Everyone who has ridden him has been impressed. An exciting prospect"
Pomme De Nuit - Bay filly by Midnight Legend. Sixth shares available at only £340 per person per month

Martin Says:
"Unraced full sister to Rosemary Russet who has already won for Harry Fry. Closely related to winning chaser Strongbows Legend and 12x winner Dabinett Moon, both by Midnight Legend who produces such tough, game horses. Will start off in mares’ bumpers. A lovely young horse."

Two becomes Three

It's three-in-a-row for the exciting Spice Girl who you may remember landed impressive bumper wins at Stratford on 10th June and again at Worcester on 5th July.

Her latest victory came on 28th July at
Uttoxeter, Harry Stock on board again. She disputed second until three furlongs out before taking the lead in the penultimate furlong, going clear to trounce the field by ten lengths.

Winning three bumpers on the spin is impressive enough, but its brilliant to see with a mare homebred by part owner Richard Davis. The win gave other part owner Mark Holland his fourth win of the season, and a 100% strike rate as he also has a share in Ballymountain Boy, who won at Kempton on 1st May

We know Spice Girl jumps well, so she's an extremely exciting prospect and definitely one to watch.

Do you know of someone who might enjoy the thrills of ownership but who hasn't taken the plunge yet?  Or perhaps you know of someone who has horses elsewhere that could do with a change of scenery?  Why not bring them over for a visit?

Bring someone new to visit the yard and we'll say thanks with a bottle of something, and when they join us we'll say thanks again with something suitable.
To get started, why not forward this email to someone you think may enjoy it.

Meet The Owner

This month meet Mark Holland. Mark is one of our most enthusiastic owners, with shares in both Spice Girl and Ballymountain Boy.
Mark Says:

Having been a racing fan for some years, I decided in 2015 that I would to become an owner, or at least a part owner. This is a decision I have not looked back from - it's been a roller-coaster of an experience to date!

So, not only have I learned plenty, enjoyed butties on the gallops but incredibly, I've had a few winners (including the in-form Spice Girl, pictured railside with chequered cap)  - which is a great bonus.

It's the icing on the cake if you like - but with lots of shouting and Champagne thrown in!

Not only am I fortunate enough to have great partners, I am also involved in a great yard which I find relaxed, approachable and professional - it really has enhanced my experience.

Catching the Fox

We all know that Racing is a team effort, nowhere more so than at Condicote where we count all our team as family - so, we thought it was a good idea to regularly give a different member of staff their fair share of the spotlight. This month meet Matthew Carter A.K.A "Foxy"

Foxy has been in racing since he left school and this is his 20th season. He spent a long time working for Nigel Twiston-Davies, riding and looking after some top-class horses. After a spell in Lambourn he went back to Nigels as 2nd Head Lad, then returned to Labourn as Head Lad for Charlie Mann.

Foxy returned to The Cotswolds in January and quickly got a job at Condicote. When asked why he says "There's a good team of staff here who work hard, but its also a very relaxed yard which can only benefit the horses. Martin & Belinda are very ambitious and it's nice to be part of it."

Why are you called Foxy?!
Yes  - it's because I'm ginger and they said I used to look like a jockey called someone Fox!

Something not many people know about you?
I had 2 spells living and working in New York, riding out at Saratoga Springs and Aqueduct racecourse

Name us two horses to follow & why?
Ballymountain Boy has plenty of ability and will hopefully pick up a nice handicap this season. Spice Girl has done nothing wrong, looking more impressive with each win, and could be anything!
Warmest Regards
Martin, Belinda, Freddie, Harry and all the team at Condicote Stables
