Join us for our discussion of Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake!  Email kcushwa@gmail.com to rsvp and get the address!

Oryx and Crake is at once an unforgettable love story and a compelling vision of the future. Snowman, known as Jimmy before humankind was overwhelmed by a plague, is struggling to survive in a world where he may be the last human, and mourning the loss of his best friend, Crake, and the beautiful and elusive Oryx whom they both loved. In search of answers, Snowman embarks on a journey–with the help of the green-eyed Children of Crake–through the lush wilderness that was so recently a great city, until powerful corporations took mankind on an uncontrolled genetic engineering ride. Margaret Atwood projects us into a near future that is both all too familiar and beyond our imagining.

Clay Bead Making Tutorial – Tues., September 12, 7:30-9:30pm
Location tbd depending on number of attendees.

Theme for November Sharing Meeting: “Or”
At the August welcome reception, those present chose a theme to respond to. Join us in exploring “or”. What will your take be on the concept? This “or” that? Knowing what something is by recognizing what it isn’t? Different possibilities. Consider the concept and let the materials support the concept. Try something new. This is your chance to explore. All art forms welcome and you have an opportunity to celebrate and share your work at the November sharing meeting.

Art Buddies – if you’d like to be partnered (for a three months period) with another creative to meet for coffee once a month and encourage each other in your artistic journeys, email with your interest: katyamroberts@gmail.com

Who We Are
Vision: This is a chance to do something for ourselves: to revisit, reignite or discover artistic expression in a variety of forms in the midst of our journeys as spouses of medical personnel...even a chance to dream again!

Mission: We strive for quality events and offerings that encourage and promote personal and artistic exploration and growth. We foster an encouraging environment geared towards creative thinking, freedom of expression and experimentation. We champion community and friendship. All of the offerings and events are voluntary and un-obligatory with a spirit of building on successes.

Offerings:
Art Tutorials – complementary tutorials by members of the group who share their gifts, skills and techniques.
Sharing Meetings – create a work of art over the course of three months and share it with the group.
Art Buddies – those participating in original art creation and sharing meetings have an opportunity to get together with another member to discuss progress and encourage each other towards becoming quality producers.
Collaborations – partner with another creative to explore outside the box possibilities over the course of two months and then share your creations with the group.
Creative Living Workshop – this is protected time for the members to dwell on the things that feed them and to become intentional in their creative thinking as they pursue creative living.

It’s Minnesota, Don’tcha Know!

Cheyenne Labott’s House

In the spirit of residing in the Midwest, let’s get into the groove with some traditional style dishes! Examples include: Hotdish, Pie, Bars, Wild Rice Soup, and just about ANYTHING made with a can of Campbell’s soup (Cream of Mushroom soup anyone?) I’m sure there are plenty of other suggestions online (or talking to anyone from Minnesota, especially of Norwegian or Swedish descent.)

So, bring your dish, a utensil for serving, tupperware, and your appetite (don’t forget your Minnesota accent!)
