Cultivating community. Creating equitable food policy.

Welcome to the first Community Food Strategies newsletter!

Our team is thrilled to work with all of you and support a growing network of food councils. This newsletter is one of the methods we're exploring to help food councils and our partners become more familiar with available resources, trainings, and food council activities.  In this edition, you'll find highlights from fellow food councils, registration information to the Statewide Food Council Gathering, and other trainings or resources to share with your food council members and partners.

Please let us know what you think. We would love your input and to feature your food council or resource in our next edition, expected quarterly.

FOOD COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

Connecting with Community - New video and toolkit released!
Multiple food councils held community or public forums this year to raise awareness of their council, get input from the community, and invite new members to join.  In this article, we share two new resources to help councils think creatively and strategically about using community forums as an opportunity to connect with the community - this video below and a Public Forum Toolkit.
This video highlights recent public forums from the Capital Area Food Network, Orange County Food Council, and Pitt County Farm & Food Council.  Food council leaders also share their reasons and advice for hosting public forums.
