Editorial
Dear Friends,
The GMFH editing team has been hard at work on a new "best of" document -- this one focusing on the gut microbiota in early life. With an editorial by Dr. Marie-Claire Arrieta from the University of Calgary (Canada), the document will give you the broad strokes of what we know about the influence of gut microbial colonization on infant development.
Also in this newsletter is an article covering a human study that shows gut microbiome diversity is more closely related to diet than to body mass index; and turning to animal models, we cover a rat study that demonstrates how administration of certain probiotic strains down-regulates the expression of inflammation-related genes.
We wrap up this newsletter with news on GMFH's participation in the 10th European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) conference coming up this month in Rotterdam. We hope to see you there!
