This is the first community call for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety topic of the National Transportation Data Challenge.  Join the Northeast Big Data Hub and Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety co-chairs from Satori as we team up to discuss how we might promote bike sharing and improve bike share safety, security and availability.

Webinar: Alternative Avenues for Development of Data Science Education Capacity

Stephen Uzzo (New York Hall of Science), who leads Big Data Literacy at the Northeast Big Data Hub, will join other data science education experts on this South Big Data Hub webinar highlighting efforts that build data science education capacity outside of the context of tradition curricular program development. This may include integration of data science into courses and curricula outside of the traditional CS/math/stats context (i.e. Arts and Humanities), expansion of capacity by integration of third party or shared resources (i.e. MOOCs and open source educational resources) into curricula, and additional educational options outside of traditional courses (i.e. Faculty training, Data Science for Social Good Programs, and Bootcamps).

The MBDH All-Hands meetings are organized annually to bring together the broad MBDH membership and interested new parties to share information on data and Data Science-related projects, collaborations, tools, practices, and discoveries in the thematic areas of interest in the MBDH region. The meeting is intended to build the community, share successes and opportunities, and to also provide interesting or emergent Big Data applications across the R+D space.
