VERSE OF THE WEEK

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
   let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
   let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

                                                    Psalm 96:11-12 (NIV)

CSLA ROOM PARENTS

The room parent concept is meant to be an easy way for the school to get correct information out to parents, as well as promoting fellowship and a sense of community in the school.  It can be more cost effective than printing information for every event or volunteer opportunity.  Also, it promotes class level communication amongst parents.  The information coming from a class level peer allows for more interaction as to how that particular information affects each given level and who is involved.

  • Each CSLA class will have one or two volunteer “room parents.” The room parents’ primary role is simple communication. As information is communicated via a class level peer, the group of parents for these students become more informed and has greater opportunities to be collectively involved.  With accurate, quality communication, a thriving community network is established.
  • Room parents from each class receive emails or other information from Volunteer Coordinators, CSLA Board or Staff.  The Room Parent  communicates this information to other parents via email or other appropriate means in their established school community.
  • Communicate Volunteer opportunities at the school
  • Communicate and encourage participation in campus activities (bingo, sports events, script sales, etc.)
  • Help facilitate and communicate fundraiser and other event information such as the auction, golf tournament, carnival, theatre events, music events, Old Fashioned Festival, etc.
  • Help coordinate with the auction committee for:
  • Class projects &/or baskets
  • Ticket sales information
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinators for events they need help with:
  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • Carnival!
  • Book Fair!
  • Spirit Week
  • These are just a few examples of volunteer opportunities!
  • Occasionally make phone calls to their classes to promote big events when volunteers are in short supply or additional need arises.
  • Dependent upon each individual teacher's needs, may also work as liaison for teacher to communicate information regarding field trips, etc.
  • Room parents can also initiate communication on their own to help build community…such as inviting their entire grade level to come to a particular bingo night and making it a fun class/family event.
