First round of simulations ready

Predictions of climate change effects have been made for marine fisheries, freshwater lake fisheries, freshwater and marine finfish as well as marine shellfish aquaculture. Biological forecasts are obtained for two climate scenarios (RCP4.6 and RCP8.5) and for four time intervals (2006-15, 2016-25, 2026-35 and 2046-55). We have summarized our results for the three sectors here.

The World Seafood Congress

ClimeFish was at the World Seafood Congress in Reykjavik, Iceland, to inform about the future for European Seafood Production. You can see images from our stay here.

How are fisheries affected by climate change?

If you did not attend the World Seafood Congress, you can watch the video of our coordinator, Michaela Aschan, presenting on the  "Sustainability of Fish Stocks and Farming under Climate Change":

EIFAAC International Symposium

About 70 experts from 20 countries gathered in the lake district of Mazovian Lakes in Poland under the auspices of the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC) of Food and Agriculture Organization of FAO to discuss the adaptation of inland fisheries and aquaculture to climate change. ClimeFish was there and gave several talks concerning lakes and pond farming in Europe.

Survey of Lake Lipno

One of the biggest challenges in the ClimeFish project is to explain and evaluate the distribution and abundance of fish in the Lipno Reservoir. Our researchers involved in the freshwater case study in the Czech Republic works hard to unravel this. Read more about the survey or watch the lake Lipno movie.
