Seniors Week Workshop: 2nd November

As part of Seniors Week Bunbury Public Library will be hosting creative writing tutor Sarah Evans for a unique writing workshop on memoirs. Based in Bridgetown, Sarah is a published author in crime, romance and comedy as well as being an experienced facilitator on all aspects of the writer's craft.  This event is not to be missed and will allow both budding and experienced writers to benefit from expert advice in a collaborative, relaxed environment.

In celebration of Seniors Week, City of Bunbury Public Libraries are inviting seniors, children and families to take part in a special intergenerational Story Time session. This will be held at both of our branches at the following dates and times:

Withers Community Library
Tuesday 31st October at 10:30 am
Bunbury Public Library
Friday 3rd November at 10:30 am

Please note: Bookings are not necessary for these events.
The School Holiday fun continues throughout the second week of the holidays at the libraries. Whilst all the events are fully booked you can still sign up for the waitlist through our Eventbrite page. If there are any cancellations people on the waitlist are given priority. School is out for Year 12 students and many will be looking forward to celebrating 12 long years of hard work! There are several leavers events that you (or your teenager) may be planning on attending. To help you prepare in the best possible way, Bunbury Public Library is hosting a Year 12 Leavers Survival Guide workshop. There will be expert presenters from a variety of local community organisations. Come along and learn how to look after yourself while still having a good time. Meet The Author & Book Launch
Peter O'Shaugnessy
Date: Thursday 19th October
Time: 5.30 pm - 7:30 pm
Where: Bunbury Public Library

The Bunbury Public Library is proud to host local author and artist Peter O'Shaughnessy, presented by ABC Radio's Gillo, showcasing his new book and paintings in this meet the author event.

The Figures on the Lake takes the viewer on a colourful pictorial history of the Gormley statues on Lake Ballard near Menzies in the WA outback, through the creation, slow decay and ultimate destruction of the statues. It contains an imaginative attempt to put faces to some of the figures and concludes with a short series of paintings exploring how the statues influence future directions of the artist’s work.

Books will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to supporting Cancer Research in WA.

Read Write Now is a volunteer group that was set up in Western Australia in 1977. That means the program is celebrating its 40th consecutive year.

Volunteer tutors provide free one-to-one assistance to adults wanting to improve their reading, writing, spelling, maths and/or IT skills.

The City of Bunbury Public Libraries are proud supporters of Read Write Now and have a range of resources available specific to this program.To arrange an introductory session ring the Read Write Now hotline on 1800 018 802.

Home Library Service
The Home Library Service is a free service available to people living in their own homes, nursing facilities or other accommodation within the City of Bunbury who are unable to get to the library due to illness, injury or disability. Library staff assist by selecting books and other library resources for you and then deliver and collect them on a monthly basis.
