What's New
Sunday, October 8 th is the date of the Fourth Amirim Conference, which is a conference on vegetarianism and veganism. The Amirim community has been involved with vegetarianism and veganism from the moment of its founding in 1958, and has been active in the realms of agriculture, health and the environment for 6 decades.
I attended the third conference, which took place last year, and greatly enjoyed the lectures by speakers who had both knowledge and vision. Subjects included beekeeping, the carob, the history of Amirim, the Indian tradition of “pension” for working animals, and positive references to vegetarian diet within the Jewish tradition. I was very happy to be invited to speak at the conference this year, and will be speaking on “Food, the First Medicine”.
The material for the lecture will be taken from the chapter that I have written in a medical textbook, to be published in the coming months, in America. The focus will be on the key research findings that support a nutritional approach to several common illnesses which cause a great deal of morbidity and mortality, mainly heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders.
Here is the link (Hebrew only) Please mark the date in your diaries and get ready for a great conference at Amirim, in the wonderful fresh air of the ever beautiful Galilee.
