The UCLA China Arts Fellowship (CAF) is a new program for recent graduates who possess an interest in world arts, cultures, and languages and the desire to be part of a creative global community.
Launching in February 2018, the CAF program will enable participants to live and learn Mandarin at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of China's top universities located in the heart of the city's French Concession. Fellows will also have the opportunity to try out their language skills and cultural knowledge working as interns for a local arts institution, and to travel to western China to explore the historic legacy of the Silk Road.
The UCLA China Arts Fellowship provides free housing, tuition, medical insurance, and 2-weeks of guided travel in China. Participants will be responsible for their international airfare and the cost of a Chinese student visa.
