Who is Jesus? Mark 1-8

Knights in white satin

Romans 6:23
“For the wages for sin are death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”

I think two of the biggest themes that we’ve seen throughout Daniel are eternal life and a purposeful appointed time for God to display His Kingship and His mercy.  Eternity is given at God’s timing in one of two ways - a heavenly inheritance or everlasting contempt. Dan 12 presents these two contrary concepts, alike to light and dark.
This is a hard concept to sit with but one that needs to be brought to light for our own encouragement, as believers and for those we share the gospel with who desperately need it.

Jesus surrenders Himself as the substitute for daily sacrifice, as the ultimate offering for sin. We are made new, a whiter shade of pure, mercifully rewarded a rich inheritance, away from a bankrupt world.

Those without this eternal inheritance, often fear death. I remember what this felt like before the life line of Jesus, there are times I still need to be reminded not to let fear control my heart.

“For the wages for sin are death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Rom 6:23
I have taken this verse for granted every time I’ve read it. Today, it fills me with gratitude and an undertone of poignancy, for those around me who are yet to reach out for mercy and freedom from the fear of death.

Jesus has smashed death in the face, head on.
Death is the consequence of our sin.
He is the victorious cure for both.

Let’s pray and live out a Halleluja as we wrestle with this!
