Smart Meter with energy usage

How to control your energy cost?

Did you know that using a smart meter could help you save money on your energy bills? Currently there is a government plan which is aiming for every home in the UK to have a smart meter installed by 2020. But, what is a smart meter? An internet-connected meter that gives you live information about your energy use, cost and helps you to make decisions which could reduce your bills. Thanks to The REPLICATE project, at least 240 households could save money on their energy bills and benefit from new technology to lower energy use and make their homes warmer, cheaper and quicker to heat.

Smart grids are coming

The government has recognised the potential of smart grids to reduce the need to invest in new power stations, whilst at the same time encouraging local green energy generation and use to reduce household energy bills. With new ways of getting around such as electric vehicles - district heating and changes to city infrastructure, The REPLICATE project is exploring how these things can work together in a smart grid. These developments will change how and when we use power, and shift peaks in our demand for energy. Smart grids are one way we can upgrade our infrastructure to adapt for our future needs.
