“Careful” and “judicious” probably aren’t the first words that spring to mind when you spot our iconic Gecko Bus or visit our showy TruckSide indoor food truck food court. Our customer experience is rooted in quirky fun. But in the back office we run a tight ship, and that is leading to steady growth in our franchise community: one by one, Cheese Curds/Habaneros franchise restaurants are popping up in communities across Atlantic Canada.

Today, we have one franchise store open in Oromocto, NB; one under construction in Truro, NS; and one at the planning stages in Sydney, NS. Where to next? Opportunity (maybe that’s you!) will tell.

Cape Breton, put down your fiddles and pick up some tacos!

Fact #1: There’s a Caper fiddling the welcome at the gates of Heaven. (All right, fine. We can’t prove it. But you can’t disprove it!)

Fact #2: The good people of Sydney, NS displayed their signature enthusiasm recently when they heard Habaneros Modern Taco Bar is coming to the Mayflower Mall. Franchisees Robert and Natalie Miller will be shutting down their Orange Julius right after Christmas, and transforming their space into a Habaneros in time to spice up the dreary end of February. The Millers’ location will be our test market for smoothies that pair with our fan-favourite burritos and tacos. If the smoothies are a hit, we’ll be adding them to our regular menus in our other locations, too.

Truro opening in late October

Our dual Cheese Curds/Habaneros franchise location in Truro is on track to open in a matter of weeks. Construction is almost complete -- floor tiles are installed inside, colour is on the inside walls, and the cement will soon be poured for the sidewalks and patio outside. We’ve posted for all staff positions and will be looking to choose our team this month, so we can get everyone trained and ready to go in late October.

Truro store just last week. Every day it gets (and looks!) closer to being ready.

It turns out Oromocto loves us as much as we love Oromocto (which is to say, a lot)

We opened the doors on our very first franchise store earlier this summer in Oromocto, and we have been blown away by the response from the local community. Franchisee Rick Kirkpatrick and his team have impressively kept up with their customers’ enthusiastic demand for our quality food and service. It was like drinking from a fire hose for Rick and his squad those first few months, and we couldn’t be more proud. We celebrated Oromocto’s official Grand Opening earlier this month, and this community already feels like home.

More on the way

It’s shaping up to be a busy fall with these three new franchises running and in the works, and a new corporate store opening in Bedford, NS, too.

We also have a few new franchise irons in the fire for 2018, but we’re not spilling just yet: stay tuned. We’re growing steadily, but we want to be available to support our current franchisees as much as they need us while we look for new opportunities. Each and every Cheese Curds and Habaneros location is important to us; we are committed to success at every one.

The franchising page of our website lists current opportunities in markets we are specifically targeting, but we are always open to other markets if we find the right partner and the right location.  For more information, please check it out, or contact us at franchising@chefinspired.ca.
