Love your work. Love your life.
Dear Friends,

Deciding where to allocate our time and energy can impact not just our productivity, but our relationships. Sometimes we give the best of ourselves to those we are less close to and it leaves little left for those that matter the most. Yet, when it comes to relationships, it pays to remember that the world is not flat. Your time and energy are your most valuable assets.

Dream big, plan big!

SAM'S CENTS

Sam’s Cents

Hobbies don’t just offer enjoyment throughout our lives; they keep our minds sharp and make us more productive. Hobbies enhance your performance at work and at home. They also boost brainpower as you age. Researchers from San Francisco State University studied 350 people across a variety of industries and with varied hobbies, and they found that those with a hobby outside of work scored 15 to 30 percent higher on performance ranking than those without a hobby. The hobbyists were also more apt to help their colleagues.

The “hobbies” slice is the easiest one to abandon, especially when you lead a hectic life, but it’s one absolutely worth fighting for. When you are busy with your other slices and time is scarce, your interests can deem discretionary, but they can also be a major source of happiness, a critical driver of productivity, and an awesome opportunity to connect with your children. The research backs this up! And hobbies have staying power; like friends, it is never too late to pick up a new one or return to an old one.
