Limited places still available for Better Sailing
For the upcoming holidays we are introducing a new course Better Sailing in the first week of September/October school holidays. This course is for junior sailors who have their own sabot or Laser 4.7, or are seriously considering purchasing a boat to join the Saturday afternoon racing for the 2017-18 season. These sailors will have done at least one Learn to Sail, and joined in with the Learn to Race. These sailors can sail in light to moderate winds, and are keen to give sailing 1-up in a boat a go … if they are not already doing it. The Better Sailing Camp will be a great way for junior sailors to brush up their skills after a long break over winter. It will be giving sailors a kick-start to the season so they feel more confident out on the water.
We are always weather dependant and will be covering better boat handling skills, working out start line bias, race committee flags & what they mean, approaching mark roundings, rules on the water and so on while adventuring around the river. For our more experienced sailors who are planning regattas such as States or Nationals we will look at building a plan to prepare for these events. We are also incorporating the Junior sleepover on Thursday September 28. Cost for the week is $300. To sign up for this week:

Thinking About First Aid … it’s not too late
We still have up to 4 places available in the First Aid course at the Club on Sunday 24 September.
In our ongoing effort to make the Club a safer place to be and to sail, each year we facilitate a recognised First Aid Course, Provide First Aid.
- To hold an Australian Sailing Dinghy Instructors Certificate you will need this or a similar current qualification.
- The course will satisfy nearly all workplaces so the boss might even pay for you or perhaps it will help you get that part time or holiday job you’ve been looking for.
- Most importantly it may help save the life of a friend or loved one.

We are pleased to offer an evening with Mike Leigh on the Sailing Rules for all the senior classes.
This is your chance to ask all those difficult questions on right-of-way at marks, when overtaking, or when you get to the start line too early for the gun!
Mike is a two-time Canadian Olympian - Beijing 2008 (Laser) and London 2012 (470s) - and now coaches a range of teams & individuals in Australia.
Date: Tuesday 26th September at the Club. Start 8pm sharp. $5 per head to cover costs - Book here.
