Most neighbourly year yet!

Neighbour Day 2017 had great results this year with participation increasing by 53% (from 2016). Participation numbers are estimated to be more than 96,000!

Post event survey respondents (90%) told us that they think Neighbour Day is a useful way to connect with their neighbours, with 96% planning to maintain ongoing contact. Many people (80%) said they had been involved with Neighbour Day previously and that this resulted in ongoing connection throughout the year.

Some of the reported benefits for hosts/organisers and neighbours/community were ‘Fun, enjoyment, social, celebrate’; ‘Help to create a strong community’; ‘Get to know their neighbours’, and ‘Show their support for others / check in on neighbours’.

Thanks everyone who participated in the survey and for your very neighbourly input!

Some other ways to get involved

1,2,3,4 - You’ve got what it takes!

1. Ask  2. Listen  3. Encourage Action  4. Check in.

14 September was R U OK? Day, a national day of action and a reminder to all Australians that you’ve got what it takes to have a life-changing conversation. The day is a reminder to keep conversation, connection and caring going all year round.

Why not check in on your neighbours and ask if they are OK?

RUOK? more...

177 sleeps to go!

We are currently updating the Neighbour Day website, online registration and free resources, all of which will be available to access from mid October 2017.

With Neighbour Day just over six months away, there is plenty of time to plan your annual celebration of community. We recommend lots of ‘warm up’ or ‘practice’ events or actions with your neighbours as often as possible before then.

Make every day Neighbour Day!
