New $3 Trail Yoga
 
Get together with friends and family explore the great outdoors through new Trail Yoga (bushwalking and yoga) at bushland parks across the Toowoomba Region.

New iNSPIRE Program

Are you aged 12-17 years and looking for ways to build confidence and enhance your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing? Join the new, online iNSPIRE program and empower yourself with some winner life skills!

Over 4 weeks the program will help you to move more, eat well, sleep soundly and manage stress better. Plus you’ll learn how to increase enjoyment of everyday and extra-curricular activities, and how to grow relationships that matter to you.

THRIVE aims to inspire and encourage women and girls of all ages to lead healthy and happy lives by participating in a range of fun and social activities now available throughout the Toowoomba Region.

Free Flourish Workshop - Optimism & Resilience

Come along to a FREE 1 hour Flourish workshop and learn about evidence-based approaches towards encouraging more optimism, resilience, happiness, mindfulness, connection, zest and meaning into your life. 

The upcoming workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge to foster optimism, increase resilience and bring more positive emotions into your life:

Get together with friends and family and have a go at a new free or low-cost activity:

Looking for something fun to do? Get the kids outdoors to play a new augmented reality game at parks across the Toowoomba region. Download the free Magical Park App and bring your smartphone or tablet to the below Magical Parks sessions at a park near you and discover a digital fantasyland for children and families to explore.  All Magical Parks activities are free, and no bookings are required.

A Halloween Game will be available from Monday 30 October to Sunday 5 November 2017 at the below locations:

  • Clifton (Elsie Jones Park)
  • Oakey (Gordon Park)

Seed to Feed Workshop - Highfields

Come along to a Seed to Feed workshop by Brian Sams to learn about growing fruit and veg in your backyard, patches and pots.  Workshops cost $5 and are held from 9am to 12noon on Saturdays.  Upcoming workshop: 
  • Highfields - 28 October 2017 (Clubhouse, Highfields Sport & Recreation Park)

Triple P, Positive Parenting Workshops

Triple P is the flexible, practical way to develop skills, strategies and confidence to handle any parenting situation.  It's backed by decades of research and it's already helped more than 4 million children and their parents.  And best of all, the program is free in Queensland.

Recipe of the Month - Thai beef larb - rice noodles
4 servings     10 serves of veg     10m preparation     10m cooking

Ingredients
  • Olive or canola oil spray
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 long red chilli, seeded, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 150g green beans, trimmed, sliced into 1cm pieces
  • 2 cups finely shredded cabbage or wombok
  • finely grated rind of 1 lime and 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 teaspoons fish sauce
  • 4 spring onions, ends trimmed, thinly sliced diagonally (include green tops)
  • ½ cup chopped coriander
  • ½ cup mint leaves, roughly torn
  • whole iceberg lettuce, separated into leaves
  • 250g cooked rice noodles, to serve
  • lime cheeks, optional
Method
  1. Spray a large non-stick wok or frypan with oil and place on medium to high heat.
  2. Add mince and brown for 5 minutes, stirring to break up lumps.
  3. Add garlic, chilli and beans; stir-fry for 3 minutes.
  4. Add cabbage, lime rind and juice, and sauces; mix through and cook for 2 minutes until cabbage softens.
  5. Remove wok from heat, add spring onions, coriander and mint and toss to combine.
  6. To serve, place lettuce leaves, mince mixture, cooked noodles and lime cheeks onto separate serving plates. Pile cooked mince and noodles into a lettuce leaf and coat with a squeeze of lime juice. Roll up into a parcel to eat.
