Lecture addresses technology's effect on humanitarian aid

How do robotics, and technology in general, affect humanitarian efforts around the world?
 
Patrick Meier, an expert in the humanitarian applications of digital and robotic technologies, will be giving this free public talk this evening as part of the Stanley Knowles Humanitarian Service Lecture series, organized by St. Paul’s University College at the University of Waterloo.
 
Dr. Meier is co-founder and executive director of WeRobotics and author of the book Digital Humanitarians: How Big Data is Changing the Face of Humanitarian Action. He has more than 10 years of experience working in humanitarian technology, crisis mapping and crisis early warning, and has been a consultant for major international aid organizations such as the Red Cross and the United Nations.

Dr. Meier obtained his PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and completed a pre-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University. His professional blog, iRevolutions, has more than 2 million hits.
