Interbeing Sangha
of Kingston

Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this Sunday, October 1st, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Darcy Gawronski-McNinch will be bell minding.
Global Ethic of Non-violence

"We must examine the way we consume, the way we work, the way we treat people in order to see whether our daily life expresses the spirit of peace and reconciliation, or whether we are doing the opposite. This is the practice of deep looking that will make peace possible in our daily life. There is hope for future generations only if we can put into practice our deep aspiration for a culture of peace and nonviolence. If we cannot take practical measures to bring about a global ethic of nonviolence, we will not have enough strength to face and deal with the difficulties we will encounter in this new century. We can do this. True peace is possible."

Interbeing Sangha

Happy Continuation Day

Interbeing Sangha of Kingston celebrates a milestone this week, as we remember our very first meeting one year ago, at Kingston Unitarian Fellowship on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016. Since that evening, we have held the space to practice together nearly every week, hosted Days of Mindfulness and other events, and steadily grown to widen our circle, and welcome many new sangha siblings. Happy Continuation Day to us!

Online Course

EcoSattva Training

Registration is now open for EcoSattva Training: An Online Course for Aspiring EcoSattvas. An all new series, the program begins on Sunday, October 1st. What does it mean to express a mindful, compassionate response to climate change? What new ways of relating to ourselves, one another, and the world does this wisdom tradition call us into? Visit One Earth Sangha for more information and to register. Sangha member Jane Owen is taking the course, and invites others who may be interested in forming a study group to contact her.

Day of Mindfulness

Save the Date

Ottawa Pagoda Sangha will host a Day of Mindfulness led by Sister Ocean of Blue Cliff Monastery, on Sunday, November 19th. Sister Ocean is one of the monastics who led the weekend retreat that Ottawa Pagoda Sangha hosted this past May, and is a wonderful dharma teacher. All are welcome to attend. Registration is not yet open, but will be posted on the sangha's website. Save the date, and stay tuned for more information in Seeds of Insight.

Friends in Practice

New Cushion

Sangha member Jane Owen has once again made a beautiful addition to our practice, sewing this new cushion (with pleats!) for anyone in need of it's support during our weekly circle. Thay says, "when you arrive at your cushion, bow to the cushion, because the cushion is going to help you to sit peacefully. The cushion is a friend. You bow to the cushion, say “Thank you, cushion,” and sit down." We are thankful to our new cushion, and it's skillful creator!

Mindfulness of Love

"When you cultivate deep concentration of love you are free from wrong views and you will listen to even the most difficult people very carefully, and try to understand them deeply, their difficulties, their environment, their childhood, and when you do like that, you will arrive at the great understanding that is the perfect understanding of an enlightened one. Those who practice boundless love will certainly transcend birth and death."

Teachings On Love
Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
