Special Announcement: Dr. Thomas LaVeist will serve as a Keynote Speaker at ICBME 2017!
The International Colloquium on Black Males in Education (ICBME) Planning Committee is excited to announce that Dr. Thomas A. LaVeist will serve as a keynote speaker at the 2017 Colloquium in Toronto, Canada, on October 3rd-6th.
Dr. LaVeist is the current chairman of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the George Washington University, Milken Institute School of Public Health. His research focus is on racial disparities in health-related outcomes, and he has published more than 100 articles in scientific journals regarding this topic.
On Friday, October 6th, he will deliver a keynote address titled “Black Men Rise for Better Health," which will discuss his inspiring work with the Black Men’s Health Project, an incredible initiative that aims to understand the health challenges of Black men and develop solutions to solve these most critical issues. The Black Men’s Health Survey will study 10,000 participants across the country to gain these key insights.
Since 2012, we have strived to provide thought-provoking and engaging keynote speakers and panelists to discuss how to improve the experiences and opportunities of Black men across the globe. As we traveled across the world, from England to the Virgin Islands to Bermuda, the Colloquium sparked a global conversation that’s impact was far beyond what we ever could have imagined. The Colloquium Planning Committee wishes to thank you for your continued support and engagement, and we look forward to continuing this conversation in October.
