THE SPOKIN’ WORD

FOLKS ON SPOKES BICYCLE CLUB

Serving Chicago’s Southland September, 2017

September Program

The leaves will be falling, but we don’t have to. Autumn is a good time to review
“The Rules of the Road” for bicycling. We all need reminders on how to keep
ourselves and others safe.

Come to the September 28 th meeting of Folks on Spokes at 2800 Flossmoor Road in Flossmoor at 7:30pm. Elizabeth Adamczyk will be the speaker. She is a certified as a League Cycling Instructor, leads the annual Chicago Ride of Silence, and enjoys bike commuting and recreational rides. She will speak on bike safety and share some techniques to keep us safe while bicycling.

Haunted Cemetery Ride

Join Folks on Spokes bike club on Sunday, October 29 for our annual Haunted Cemetery bike ride. Gates at Goodenow Grove in Beecher open at 8am.  Leave any time on your own or join a group doing the 50 mile route (14-15 mph) leaving promptly at 8:30am.

The Haunted Cemetery Ride will consist of two route options. The 50 mile ride will go by 11 cemeteries; the 30 mile route will go by 9 cemeteries. Maps will be provided

Are you ready for a little fun and games? Bring your cell phone to take pictures while you are riding. Take a selfie at each cemetery entrance on the route you ride. If you get a selfie at each of the cemeteries enter yourself in a raffle for a gift card. There will be a separate drawing for each route.
