Many Rivers Microfinance Limited (Many Rivers) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports aspiring business owners with microenterprise development support and access to finance in order to see the potential of people and communities realised.
This a free service and Many Rivers majors in the area of mentoring our clients for up to 3 years, to give our clients the best possible chance of success.
Many Rivers’ Field Officers live and work in the region that they serve. Field Officers are responsible for providing micro and small business development support to people wanting to establish and develop their own businesses.
Field Officers are able to recommend the approval of micro and small business loans to provide a capital injection, if this is required, to enable clients to establish and grow their businesses. Loans are provided following a successful evidence-based assessment, taking into account the individual’s character, capacity and cashflow. Collateral, as loan security, is not required. Loans require the support of two Many Rivers’ Field Officers and approval by our Chief Operating Officer.
Many Rivers will seek to support any person who has a “real” business idea and is “fair dinkum” in their desire to make this idea real. We do not differentiate by race, gender or creed.
We offer micro and small business loans of up to $5,000 for a sole business owner and up to $10,000 for businesses with additional owners. Many Rivers can provide larger loans once we have worked with and have gotten to know our clients.
Lindsay Jones has extensive commercial experience as a qualified trades person as well as 15 years successfully owning and operating his own business. He has worked in a number of community and business development roles over the years and remains passionate about and committed to all cultural aspects of local communities. Lindsay is based in Cairns and also represents Many Rivers in the Cape York region.

An exciting new 2 year pilot program funded through DET.
This is a very different program as it is supported for 12 months with many, many opportunities to learn. It does have a Cert III in Business Administration but it all is aligned with practical business inclusiveness such as preparing a business plan, market strategy etc.
