Brothers,
Jumping into the Fall 2017 semester, the chapter has a lot to look forward to! With Tennessee Promise students now able to transfer to universities, this years recruitment is going to be one of the biggest ones the university has ever seen. We plan to take full advantage of this fall recruitment period. The chapter roster has gotten a bit slim, of the brothers that are left (about 38), all are fully invested to the chapter. We had more potentials interested in rushing during pre-rush than in past years. Cabinet this semester continues to aim high in terms of what we wish to accomplish. We are aiming to have a record breaking fall rush, stay at the top of the fraternities when it comes to GPA, build relationships with other greek and athletic groups on campus, continue to be the most involved fraternity on campus, and ultimately set up the next cabinet to be successful.

This fall, recruitment is at the top of the chapter's priority list. We currently have about 35 active brothers in the undergraduate chapter. Of the 35, by the end of the Spring 2018 semester, 23 will be graduated. This being said, this year is the first year Tennessee Promise students can transfer into the university, and the number of students enrolled at Tennessee Tech has sky rocketed. We plan t o take full advantage of this and have one of the biggest fall pledge classes our chapter has ever seen.

Here is a picture of our tent at the annual Dancing On Dixie. Although this is still just pre-rush, we tripled our number of potential new members at the house after Dancing on Dixie compared to the previous night.

Brother Reed Allison was generous enough to loan the chapter his projector to watch the fight. We had almost 70 people at the house for the viewing party for the fight. Almost all were potentials wanting to come out to rush. We grilled out, played volleyball, and enjoyed a much anticipated fight. Our viewing party was the largest of any of the other fraternities.

Due to recently enforced Title 9 regulations, in order to have more people involved in rush and pre-rush we have moved some recruiting events on campus. Our brother's along with potentials, tailgated before the Tennessee Tech Womens Soccer game vs Western Carolina. Our guys got really loud and had a great time cheering on the ladies on the soccer team. Our team won in a close, hard fought game with a score of 1-0.

Homecoming (Please Read)
This years homecoming is a lot different than any other one in the past. The university wants Greek organizations to raise money for a good cause, instead of spending it all on a float. This year we will not be building a float, but it will be more like a big billboard for the parade. This is meant to save money for the chapters. A Large portion of scoring to win homecoming comes from donations towards the Children's Miracle Network. We have set a goal for each brother to raise $50.00. However, we would like to ask graduate brothers to donate to the Childrens Miracle Network on behalf of the chapter. The more money we raise the higher chance of us winning homecoming. The chapter would appreciate it if you guys would donate for a good cause.

UPDATE ON THE UNDERGRADUATES

|
Every Semester our Faculty Advisor, Tony Marable, takes each brother who made a 4.0 the previous semester to dinner at Nick's Restaurant. This semester's brother's who received a 4.0 are: Landon Allison, Landon Binkley, Michael Harris, Jordan Hayes, James McRee, Harrison Miller, Jacob Scholl, Luke Shattuck, and Chase Womble.

The first week of the semester our brothers reached out and donated over $200.00 to a little league baseball team in Georgia. Our donations helped to pay for part of this teams travel expenses, and uniforms for the kids. This was special because it was not from chapter funds. Our brother's donated individually out of their own pockets. We hope to continue this each year and make it a tradition.

Softball: They changed the intramural sports order this year to try to have indoor sports during the rainy season. That being said, we started the semester off with softball. Our brothers had a double header to start the season. The first game we beat Sigma Phi Epsilon by a score of 13-0. Immediately after we took on Pi Kappa Phi. Our brothers won by mercy rule in the top of the 3rd inning by a score of 29-0. It is safe to say our softball team is GOOD.

Philanthropy
As you all know, we have switched our philanthropy from MS to USO. We also are revamping how our philanthropy week is structured. Instead of MS Island, we now are calling it "Fiji-500." We plan on having a Mario-Kart like race on main quad as one of the events too. More details and Pictures will be in the next newsletter.
