Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Traditionally post-fringe is when we ring in the changes with the committee and this year is no different.

Stepping down this year are Claudia Schaffner, Andy MacLeod and Stephen Makin. All have done brilliant work over the past few years and will continue to attend and be around our events. The rest of the committee would like to thank all three for their hard work in promoting the group. Cheers guys.

We would also like to welcome Danny Robertson to the committee. Danny volunteered for the Fringe and was responsible for the daily tweets throughout August. He was also instrumental in obtaining a last-minute replacement for Francesca Stavrakopoulou. We hope you will say hi to Danny when you next come along to our events.

The committee is now:

Mark Pentler - Chair
Sean Slater - Vice Chair
Heather Pentler - Monthly Talks
Ewan Leeming - Treasurer
Danny Robertson - TBC

On top of all that, we are currently trying a new venue for the monthly talks - The Monkey Barrel in Blair St. So far we've used it once with great feedback and hope to continue. If you stopped coming because you didn't like the Banshee, then we hope you'll try us one once again.

We've got some great events coming up, especially next week's Quiz and Social night where we want you to bring a book as a swap and a friend as a team-mate.

See you there!

Over the many months of the mission, the astronauts send broadcasts to Earth...cont

Pre-movie talk by Edinburgh Skeptics Chair, Mark Pentler - why Capricorn One is the perfect skeptics movie.

Our following event:

Skeptics Underground - Abortion: Right or Wrong?

Jeremiah's Taproom, 1st Oct 2017 2:00 PM

Abortion

In the UK aborting a pregnancy is legal as long as the pregnancy hasn't passed the twenty fourth week. Is twenty four weeks the right place to draw the line? Should a woman always have the right to choose what happens to her own body or should the state police her body past a certain point in the pregnancy? Does an unborn baby's right to life trump a woman's right to autonomy over her body?

Skeptics Underground is a moderated and structured discussion group.

Coming Events:

The Great Skepti-quiz and Social

Cannons Gait, 3 October 2017 7:30 PM
